Enn(N)+eye(I)

NI = the built-in ability living things have to sense, learn, adjust, and create.

Enneye combines my last name (Enns), the idea of an “eye” for detail, and the initials NI, which stand for natural intelligence.

The name Enneye represents how I work: paying close attention to detail, staying present, and letting each line lead to the next.

For as long as humans have existed, people have made things with their hands—from markings on caves to quilts, carvings, pottery, beadwork, drawings, and everything in between. That lineage matters. When someone creates by hand- the work carries their time and attention, their decisions, their mistakes, their problem-solving, and their spirit in a way no automated system can replicate. Specifically, I think it’s our ability to make mistakes- and work with them- that separates human creativity from NI.

AI can produce images, but it can’t take the place of a person connected to process- especially freehand process that allows for mistakes or just isn’t completely planned out. Or, if it is completely planned out, it’s planned out by a Soul from their imagination, personal experiences and ideas. Non-AI art- which I’m calling NI art- helps keep this long human tradition alive. In this day and age, I think it offers important soul-medicine for us. It preserves the kind of creativity that comes from being alive, not programmed, and it keeps us connected to the thousands of years of makers who shaped beauty and story with nothing but their ideas and soul. It also supports humans making slow-art as a livelihood option.

Enneye is my way of offering something slow-made in a world that’s moving fast. This art invites a longer look, a deeper breath, maybe a heart-smile. . .I hope it carries a sense of our living lineage when you connect with it too.
